Violinist Jessie Chen joined the St Louis Symphony Orchestra as a Replacement Section Violin in 2022. Born in Los Angeles, he began studying the violin at age five with Elmer Su. He received his bachelor's degree in Computer Science at Princeton University, before returning to music and receiving his Master's degree at the Juilliard School, studying with Li Lin, and his Master of Musical Arts degree at Yale School of Music, studying with Syoko Aki. In past summers, Jessie was a member of the inaugural National Youth Orchestra of the USA in 2013 and served as concertmaster of the Music Academy of the West Festival Orchestra in 2019. He has appeared as a soloist with the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra, Culver City Chamber Orchestra, and Princeton University Orchestra. Jessie regularly performs with the Chamber Music Society of St. Louis.
