The Gichi-ziibi Center for the Arts was a dream conceived by several individuals and organizations throughout our community. This dream has been nurtured over time as a result of the unending passion and support for the performing arts, visual arts, fine arts and culinary arts.

We are grateful to the Brainerd Public Schools Board of Education, who, in collaboration with teachers, administration, the local community and arts organizations, had a vision to build something world class for its students and community to enhance academic achievement and artistic opportunities throughout our region.

The Gichi-ziibi Center for the Arts and the Lakes Area Music Festival exist on the ancestral and contemporary native lands of Dakota and Anishinaabe peoples in the ota and Anishinaabe peoples in the Očhéthi, Šakówiŋ, Anishinabewaki, and Mdewakanton Territories. We honor with gratitude the people who have stewarded this land through the generations.
