Eli Ross, is an active freelance musician in the Twin Cities and a DMA candidate at the University of Minnesota. He holds degrees from the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, where he studied trumpet in the studio of John Rommel on a Premiere Artist Scholarship. He went on to earn a Master’s degree from New England Conservatory, where he studied with Tom Siders and Ben Wright.
Born into a family of musicians, Eli grew up in Minneapolis, where his teachers were Robert Dorer and Manny Laureano. He spent summers, since he was 8 years old, attending Interlochen Arts Center where he studied with John Aley, Vince DiMartino. Other festival appearances include the Aspen Music Festival and the Round Top Festival, where he was a fellowship recipient.
Awards include 1st prize in the International Trumpet Guild High School Solo Competition and top prizes in the Schubert Club and Thursday Musical Solo Competitions.
Since moving back to the Twin Cities in 2021, Eli has enjoyed performing at the Minnesota Orchestra’s Symphony for the Cities Concerts, as 2nd and Guest Principal of the Thunder Bay Symphony as well as concerts with Andrea Bocelli, The Celtic Women, The Cuban American Youth Orchestra, and the St. Mark’s Cathedral Music Series.
