Violist Deanna Petre enjoys a multifaceted career as a performer, teaching artist, and as co-founder of The Fearless Artist Mastermind. After spending ten years cultivating her diverse performing career in Paris and across Europe, she is excited to return to her hometown of Minneapolis in summer 2023 to contribute to the vibrant music community.
During her time in France, Deanna performed frequently with the Orchestre de Chambre de Paris, the Orchestre National d’Ile de France, and as guest principal violist with the Orchestre Dijon Bourgogne, among other ensembles in the Paris region. She also performed with the Orquesta de Cámara Galega in Spain, the Orchestre National de Pays de la Loire, and the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. Passionate about chamber music, she was a regular guest artist for the Opus 16 Concerten series in the Netherlands. She also appeared with the Ensemble IMAGO in Paris, at the ClasClas International Music Festival in Spain, and for the Sinfonietta Paris series. In the US she has performed with the Minnesota Orchestra, the South Dakota Symphony, the Lakes Area Music Festival, and the Artosphere Festival, as well as in the JOYA series and Music on the Hill series in Minnesota.
As an advocate for introducing classical music to young audiences, Deanna performed and gave master classes in international schools across Europe through the Juilliard Global Ventures program. She also initiated outreach concerts in France, Switzerland, and Romania. Currently, Deanna maintains a private teaching studio, and in the past taught at the MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis. During her time at Juilliard, she was a recipient of the MAP teaching fellowship.
Driven by her desire to support other freelance musicians, Deanna co-founded The Fearless Artist Mastermind in 2020 alongside pianist Michelle Lynne. The Mastermind connects musicians and helps them navigate their careers more effectively and empowers them to achieve their career aspirations. Through the Mastermind, musicians gain clarity on the next steps in their careers, share experiences, exchange ideas, set goals, and gain valuable insight that helps provide a structure to achieving their goals.
Deanna is a graduate of the Juilliard School, the Cleveland Institute of Music, and the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris, during which time she was a recipient of the Harriet Hale Woolley Scholarship from the Fondation des Etats-Unis. She loves hiking, traveling with her husband, and most of all, being a mom to two beautiful boys.
