Seungchan Hong, Resident Artist

Praised for his compelling stage presence and vocal depth, baritone Seungchan Hong joins the Lakes Area Music Festival this summer. He is currently represented by Lombardo Associates.

Mr. Hong has performed an impressive range of principal roles, including the title roles in Gianni Schicchi (Canto Vocal Program and Cali School of Music) and Rigoletto (Scenes), as well as Tonio in Pagliacci with Regina Opera. His recent highlights include performing as the Mandarin in Turandot with the Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Germont in La Traviata at the Manhattan School of Music, and the Count in Le nozze di Figaro at the Cali School of Music. He also appeared in the contemporary production of Buoso’s Ghost as Gianni Schicchi.

On the concert and competition stage, Mr. Hong has garnered significant acclaim. He was named the Winner of the Opera Idol Competition through the Milnes Voice Studio, adjudicated by legendary figures Sherrill Milnes and George Shirley. Additionally, he took First Prize (Full Scholarship) at the Cali School of Music Vocal Competition and received honors from the SAS Performing Arts and Opera at Florham International Vocal Competitions. His versatile repertoire also includes scenes from Falstaff (Title Role) and Un ballo in maschera (Renato).
