Mezzo-soprano Samantha Malk has performed throughout Europe, Asia, the Americas, and her native South Africa on both the opera and concert stage. She has established a significant reputation as a teacher and mentor, working with singers who have gained contracts with theatres such as the Metropolitan Opera, Houston Grand Opera, Hamburg State Opera, Opéra de Montréal, LA Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Opéra National de Bordeaux, Komische Oper Berlin, Bavarian State Opera, Opéra National de Paris, Tanglewood Music Festival, Marlboro Music Festival and Broadway, to name a few. In 2018, Samantha joined the Guildhall School of Music & Drama as Deputy Head of Vocal Studies and as well as guiding conservatoire-level students and members of major young artist programmes in the US, Canada and Europe, Samantha has a private studio with singers who have been successful in a variety of vocal genres. She has been a voice consultant for the young artist programme at the Israeli Opera since 2012 and has served on the faculties of the Brooklyn College, International Vocal Arts Institute and Summer Opera Tel Aviv. She holds degrees in vocal performance from Indiana University and the Manhattan School of Music. This summer, Samantha is thrilled to be joining the Lakes Area Music Festival.
