Based in the Twin Cities, Matthew is a dynamic freelance musician who contributes widely to the region’s musical life. He holds principal positions with the Minnetonka Symphony and the Minneapolis Pops Orchestra and performs regularly with the Minnesota Bach Ensemble. His work as a substitute musician has brought him to stages shared by the Minnesota Orchestra, Minnesota Opera, the Des Moines Symphony, and the South Dakota Symphony. Beyond his performances, Matthew is passionate about music education and has taught violin and viola at institutions including Bemidji State University, The MacPhail Center for Music, Yinghua Academy and Breck School. One of Matthew’s most cherished musical pursuits is his role as a performing artist with Petite Concerts, a nonprofit organization dedicated to presenting 30-minute experimental music performances tailored for young audiences. Matthew holds degrees from Concordia College, Indiana University Jacobs School of Music, and the University of Minnesota.
