Masha Popova recently completely a fellowship with the New World Symphony, and currently holds the positions of Principal Flute with Central City Opera. Prior to coming to New World Symphony, she played Principal Flute with the Des Moines Symphony and second flute/piccolo with Sarasota Opera Orchestra. In addition, she has performed as guest flutist with the Seattle Symphony, Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra, Jacksonville Symphony, and Louisiana Philharmonic.
Masha was the Albert M. Greenfield concerto competition senior division winner, and performed as a soloist with the Philadelphia Orchestra during the 2009-2010 season. She was also the first prize winner in the woodwind/brass division at the Young Texas Artist Competition. In most recent summers, Masha has attended the Tanglewood Music Center, Pacific Music Festival (Japan), National Repertory Orchestra, and Spoleto Music Festival USA.
Masha Popova received her Bachelor of Music from the Curtis Institute of Music, where she studied with Jeffrey Khaner, principal flute of the Philadelphia Orchestra. She received her Master of Music at the Shepherd School of Music, Rice University, where she studied with Leone Buyse.
