Kate Wegener began her position as associate principal oboe of the Minnesota Orchestra in January 2024. A native of Connecticut, she has recently been featured at the Marlboro Music Festival, the Spoleto Festival, the Sarasota Music Festival, and with the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society. She has appeared as a substitute musician with the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra, the Florida Orchestra and the Apex Ensemble, among others.
Wegener received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees at The Juilliard School, where she studied primarily with Nathan Hughes, with additional instruction from Elaine Douvas, Linda Strommen and Scott Hostetler.
