California native Jessica Ling enjoys a diverse musical career as an orchestral, chamber, and contemporary violinist with engagements throughout the United States, Canada, South America, and Europe. With a formative background in classical music, she has performed with the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, Staatskapelle Halle, Erfurt Philharmonic Orchestra, Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra, Ensemble Modern Orchestra, and Chicago Symphony Orchestra among others.
Contemporary music studies brought her to Germany, and she has since then played in festivals such as Musikfest Berlin, Acht Brücke, Darmstadt Summer Sessions, Cresc Biennale, Klangspuren Festival, and the Witten Tage für Neue Kammermusik. Jessica was a member of the International Ensemble Modern Academy 2015/2016 and has worked with composers Enno Poppe, Beat Furrer, Helmut Lachenmann, Michel van der Aa, Heinz Holliger, and Hans Abrahamsen.
A well-rounded musician and performer, Jessica also plays tango, jazz, pop, and musical theater. She is featured on the Danish award-winning jazz ensemble I Think You’re Awesome’s LP “Suite to be You and Me”, and was a Foley Artist at the Salzburger Landestheater in 2022. This diverse breadth of experience has fueled her desire and commitment to work on her own projects, most recently, collaborations with composers, video artists, and lighting designers.
Jessica completed her musical studies at Northwestern University in Chicago and the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende in Frankfurt am Main. She holds a Business Administration degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
