Jacob Lemons enjoys a broad and diverse background in music, with extensive experience as both a classical and jazz saxophonist. An Iowa native, Lemons holds a M.M degree from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music and a B.M from Drake University. Lemons was a member of several collegiate ensembles, including the Drake University Wind Symphony, Drake University Jazz Ensemble One, Tiberius Saxophone Quartet, CCM Wind Symphony, CCM Jazz Orchestra, and the CCM Jazz Lab Band. He regularly performs with the Central Iowa Wind Ensemble as a full-time member, as well as with the Des Moines Metro Concert Band. His principal teachers include Dr. James Bunte, Dr. James Romain, and Colin Young.
Lemons has participated in several recording projects and has performance credits on “Confluences” (Drake University Wind Symphony), “China Bound” (Drake Jazz Ensemble One), and “Adams & Gershwin: Works for Piano & Wind Band” (CCM Wind Symphony). He was selected numerous times to perform in the Honors Recital at Drake University, both as a soloist and as a chamber musician, and was a winner of the 2017 Drake Symphony Orchestra Concerto Competition. During his time at Drake, Tiberius Saxophone Quartet was also a two-time winner of the MTNA Regional Competition in the Chamber Winds category.
