Carson Rose Schneider, Opera

Collaborative pianist and coach Carson Rose Schneider lives in Maple Grove, MN and is an active coach and performer of art song, opera, musical theatre, chamber and instrumental music. She has also given recitals throughout the United States and Europe. This 2019-2020 season, she will be on the music faculty and staff at Fargo-Moorhead Opera, Bay View Music Festival, Lakes Area Music Festival, Skylark Opera Theatre, The Lied Society, Lyric Opera of the North, and Arbeit Opera Theatre. She is also the interim choir director, choir accompanist, and pianist/organist at United Congregational Church in Elk River, MN. This past 2018 season saw her working as a Herndon Foundation Emerging Artist at Virginia Opera, a resident artist coach at Opera North in Lebanon, NH, and her first season at Fargo-Moorhead Opera. She is thrilled to be returning to LAMF for a second season as the opera pianist for Wagner’s Die fliegende Hōllander.

Before moving to Minneapolis, Dr. Schneider worked as a staff accompanist at Eastern Kentucky University, where she collaborated with student and faculty vocalists and instrumentalists. She also served as Assistant Music Director and Tour Pianist for the Schmidt Opera Outreach Program (associated with the University of Kentucky). Their production of John Davies’ Little Red’s Most Unusual Day reached kids in about 72 schools all over Kentucky. Passionate about arts outreach, she has continued her work in other opera outreach programs throughout Minnesota and North Dakota, in association with Fargo-Moorhead Opera, Lyric Opera of the North, and University of Minnesota.


She finished her Doctor of Musical Arts in collaborative piano and coaching at the University of Minnesota in Fall 2017, where she studied with Timothy Lovelace. As a graduate teaching assistant, she played and served as assistant coach for the Opera Theatre and Opera Workshop departments. Additional study includes time abroad as a collaborative piano fellow at La Musica Lirica in Novafeltria, Italy and as a piano fellow for Bay View’s mainstage opera program. Opera and musical theatre productions include Tosca, The Rape of Lucretia, Most Happy Fella, La belle Hélène, Così fan tutte, L'elisir d'amore, Les contes d’Hoffmann, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Speed Dating,Tonight! , Alcina, Carmen , Suor Angelica , and Madama Butterfly. In addition to her doctorate, she has degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison (MM) and the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (BM).
