Angela Waterman Hanson, Violin

Angela Waterman Hanson is a champion of classical music in Minnesota as a performer, teacher and conductor. She frequently performs as a guest artist with the SPCO and the Minnesota Orchestra, and is a member of the Minnesota Opera Orchestra first violin section and associate concertmaster of the Duluth Superior Symphony Orchestra.

Angela enjoys being part of the music faculty at Bethel University and has been concertmaster of multiple community orchestras including the St. Paul Civic Symphony, the Dakota Valley Symphony and the Kenwood Symphony.

An avid chamber musician, Angela is currently a member of the Sapphira Quartet and the Aster Ensemble and was a founding member of the Mill City String Quartet.

As a conductor, Angela has led the Bethel Chamber Orchestra, the Bethel Philharmonic Orchestra and the St. Paul Civic Symphony.

Originally from the Chicago area, where she studied with Gail Salvatori, Angela came to Minnesota to play in the St. Olaf Orchestra and work with Charles Gray. She stayed to study with Sally O’Reilly at the University of Minnesota for her graduate degrees in violin performance.

Angela plays on a 1790 Varotti violin and a Lamy bow that were formerly played by Minnesota Orchestra violinist Laurie Green.
