The LAMF Composer Fellowship Program will bring three of today’s most talented composers to Brainerd this summer. Over the course of one week, these fellows will work with mentor composer Jimmy López Bellido, workshop new music written for the Thalea String Quartet, and interact with our roster of 250 professional musicians. Our 2024 Fellows are Hannah Ishizaki, Sage Shurman, and Liza Sobel Crane.
We invite you to discover what it takes to make great compositions come to life. Witness the creation of new music as you hear a performance of three string quartet world premiered by the Thalea String Quartet written by this year’s Composer Fellows. To hear additional works by our three fellows, join us in the afternoon from 2-4:00 p.m. at the Gichi-ziibi Center for the Arts to hear the LAMF Orchestra read through music in progress written by this year's Composer Fellows under the direction of Christian Reif at our Composer Fellowship Orchestral Readings.
This is a true behind-the-scenes experience that will take you deep into the thrilling world of composition!
These events are open to the public; no tickets required. Donations will support the LAMF Composer Fellowship program.
