Satoka Abo, Violin

Satoka Abo is a Japanese-American violinist based in Montreal, Quebec. She will be joining the first violin section of the Orchestre Symphonique de Montreal this fall.

Having just finished an Artist Diploma at McGill with Jinjoo Cho, she previously completed her undergraduate studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music with Ivan Zenaty and Ilya Kaler, and received her master’s degree under the tutelage of Syoko Aki and Soovin Kim at the Yale School of Music. She has been coached by Joel Krosnick, Natasha Brofsky, Dmitry Kouzov, and members of the Cavani and Brentano Quartets. As a soloist, she performed with CIM Orchestra after earning honorable mention in CIM Concerto Competition. She has also performed globally as a chamber and orchestral musician through programs at Kneisel Hall, Thy Chamber Music Festival, and Verbier Festival, among others.
