Margaret (Maggie) Hinchliffe is a pianist, vocal coach, and teacher. She currently works at Stephen F. Austin State University in Texas as a staff pianist in both instrumental and vocal areas and was previously the pianist for Boulder Opera Company in Colorado for productions of Il Trovatore, Le Nozze di Figaro, La Bohème, and L’enfant et les sortilèges. Maggie has premiered works, commissioned composers and poets, and pursued various projects through grant awards including the Creative Grant from Stagetime, the Career Performance Grant from Sigma Alpha Iota, the Paul R. Judy Center at Eastman, and the Virginia Allison Collaborative Piano Award from the National Federation of Music Clubs. Maggie has performed with partners in the U.S. and abroad including a recent tour, “Works by Women for Flute and Piano” with flutist Michael Alampi. She has spent summers as a collaborative pianist and fellow for the Hawaii Performing Arts Festival, Aspen Music Festival and School, and Songfest, among other programs. Maggie studied collaborative piano at the Eastman School of Music and solo piano and piano pedagogy at Vanderbilt University. In addition to performing, Maggie teaches a private studio of pianists, and enjoys writing poetry, reading, hiking, running, and traveling.
