Lindsay Rabe, Teaching Artist

Lindsay Rabe is a dedicated and accomplished music educator with a passion for teaching elementary general music. With a decade of teaching experience, Lindsay's expertise and enthusiasm have had a profound impact on her students' musical journeys. Originally hailing from the Baltimore area, Lindsay earned a Bachelor's degree in Music Education and a minor in Vocal Performance from Towson University. After graduating, she embarked on her teaching career in Montgomery County Public schools near Washington D.C. Seeking new horizons, Lindsay made a bold move to the beautiful state of Hawaii, where she continued teaching in the Hawaii Public Schools system. Her dedication and innovative teaching methods were recognized, leading her to her current position at ‘Iolani School. At ‘Iolani, Lindsay imparts her musical knowledge to students in grades Kindergarten through 6th, offering a comprehensive music program. Additionally, she directs a 4th-6th grade choir, nurturing their vocal talents and fostering a sense of camaraderie among the young singers.

Lindsay actively engages in the local music scene. You can find her performing at renowned venues such as Diamond Head Theater, the Blue Note, and Manoa Valley Theater. Notably, Lindsay recently music directed Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella, marking the grand opening of Diamond Head Theater's brand new space.

Outside of teaching and performing, Lindsay has cultivated a thriving vocal studio, providing private voice lessons to a diverse range of students from ages 6 to 60. She believes in tailoring her teaching approach to suit each student's unique strengths and aspirations, empowering them to develop their vocal abilities to the fullest.

Committed to her professional growth, Lindsay is currently pursuing a Master's degree in Music Education at Kent State University, with anticipated graduation next June. She is dedicated to expanding her knowledge and pedagogical skills to continually elevate her teaching practice and enrich the lives of her students. Lindsay completed the second level of Orff Schulwerk training this summer, a highly respected and innovative music education approach. With a desire to further her expertise, she aspires to complete the third level of training next summer to become a certified Orff teacher, embracing the principles of active music-making, movement, and improvisation to foster creativity in her students.

Driven by a love for travel and adventure, Lindsay seizes every opportunity to explore new places and cultures. When she's not teaching or performing, you can often find her basking in the sun at the beach.
