Update (1/24/26): In light of events this morning, our art walk at MIA and this evening's concert at Pillsbury Castle are cancelled. If you have guests joining you on your ticket order please forward this information to them.
This morning, federal agents shot an observer on Nicollet Avenue, just a few blocks from Pillsbury Castle and the MIA. There is a vigil planned for 1pm, bringing an influx of people to this area with limited street parking and sub-zero temperatures. For the safety of everyone who was planning to attend our concert this evening, we are cancelling.
Art is crucial for promoting peace, healing, and connectedness within our community. However, in the immediacy of today’s tragic events, we can not proceed as planned, and we believe that stepping back honors the gravity of this moment.
Tickets purchased for this performance will automatically be converted to a tax-deductible donation. If ticketholders would prefer to reschedule for a future Lakes Area Music Festival event, please contact our box office manager Holly at boxoffice@lakesareamusic.org.
Thank you for your understanding. Stay safe.
NICHOLAS LANIER was a true Renaissance man—singer, songwriter, lute player, painter, and first to hold the title of Master of the King’s Musick. He brought the newest sounds of Europe to 17th-century England, reshaping its musical language for generations. Now his story comes full circle in performances by his many-times-great grandson, LAMF artistic director JOHN TAYLOR WARD. Ward is joined by GRAMMY® Award–winning early music specialist STEPHEN STUBBS in songs of courtly love, epic monodrama, and intimate storytelling.
