Wild, fantastical music burst forth onto the musical scene in the 17th century. Although this music is as exciting as any for modern ears, 17th century composers are rarely household names in the way that their 18th century counterparts –  like Bach and Vivaldi – have become. That often forgotten Baroque music comes to life in this concert which concludes with Corelli, whose 1700 New Year’s Day publication represents the dawning of a new and more structured musical era. As a reflection of 2020, this program explores beauty in disarray, as well as looking forward to a more stable future.

‘Beauty in Chaos, Hope in Order’ was curated by baroque violinist and historical performance specialist Chloe Fedor, recently named to the Lakes Area Music Festival’s roster of Artistic Advisors.
