A native of Minnesota, mezzo-soprano Ilah Raleigh divides her time between performing and teaching. Her previous operatic roles include Zita in Giacomo Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, Mrs. Peachum in Kurt Weill’s Threepenny Opera, and La Cayetana in Hector Armienta’s Rio de Mujeres. As a recitalist, Ilah delights in exploring works by African American composers, composers from Spain, Latin America and the Caribbean, and women composers of all backgrounds.
As an educator, Ilah is passionate about accessible arts education and educational equity for students of color. She has taught at Perpich Arts High School, Saint Paul Conservatory for Performing Artists, and MacPhail Center for Music. Ilah earned a Master of Music, Vocal Performance from the Peabody Institute and is currently pursuing a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Learning from the University of St. Thomas.
