Born in New York and raised in South Korea, Christine Soojin Kim was appointed as the Principal Oboe of the Sarasota Orchestra for 2016-2017 season, and the Principal Oboe of the Des Moines Metro Opera for 2017 season.
In 2018- 2019 season, Ms.Kim has continuously performed with the Sarasota Orchestra as the Principal Oboe, performed also with the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra and San Antonio Symphony Orchestra.
She was a full fellowship recipient at the Music Academy of West in Santa Barbara, and she performed as principal oboist in the Lindenbaum Music Festival, Charles Dutoit conducting.
She also has been the recipient of several solo competition prizes, including first prize in the Korea Herald Music Competition, Baroque Chamber Orchestra solo competition. In addition, Christine has performed the Mozart Oboe concerto with Suwon Philharmonic Orchestra, Seoul National University Orchestra
She received her undergraduate degree at Seoul National University under Yun-jung Lee, Artistic Diploma at The Colburn School under Allan Vogel and her Master’s degree at the New England Conservatory where she studied with John Ferrillo and Anne Gabriele.
