Aaron Tubergen is a frequent substitute with the Cleveland Orchestra and Minnesota
Orchestra. From 2013-2017, he served as Principal Viola of the South Dakota Symphony,
where he was featured in Berlioz’s Harold in Italy, Strauss’s Don Quixote, and Lera Auerbach’s
Sogno di Stabat Mater. Now based in Memphis with his wife, Aaron performs locally with the
Iris Orchestra, Memphis Symphony, and Nashville Symphony. He has performed at the
chamber music festivals of Faulkner, Kent/Blossom, Sarasota, and Saugatuck, and has taught
at the Calvin College String Summit and the Faulkner Chamber Music Festival. He earned his
Bachelor of Music from the Cleveland Institute of Music under the instruction of Robert Vernon,
principal viola of the Cleveland Orchestra. At CIM, he was the recipient of the Robert Vernon
Prize in viola. He is a Michigan native.
