Tickets

All concerts are provided free, with donations accepted.
No tickets or reservations are required.
Seating is general admission, with doors opening an hour prior to performances (a half hour before pre-concert lectures).

The Lakes Area Music Festival is committed to making great classical music performances accessible to as wide an audience as possible. By not charging for tickets, we ensure that no one is shut out of our events because of their means, and the socioeconomic diversity of our audience showcases the success of this strategy. We are also particularly successful in drawing new audiences to classical music: 60% of our audience has never seen a live opera production outside those we’ve produced; for 28% of our audience we are their only exposure to classical performances throughout the year.

Also, our funding model allows each audience member to determine for themselves the value of our programs. The Lakes Area Music Festival’s wide base of financial support demonstrates the community’s ownership and investment in our shared goal. About 56% of our operating budget is covered exclusively through private, grassroots support.

All performance venues are fully handicapped accessible.

Large print programs and program notes are available upon request. For that or other requests to make our events more accessible, please contact Sam Kreidenweis.

Your Concert Experience

The following information will enhance your attendance at Lakes Area Music Festival concerts and help to ensure that all audience members enjoy the experience to the fullest.

Arrival
Audience members are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of a performance to allow ample time to use rest room facilities, find seats, and settle in for the event.

Late Seating
Late seating will take place during the first convenient pause in the program.

Electronic Devices
Devices such as cellular phones, beepers, watches, electronic organizers must be turned off or in silent mode to ensure there is no disruption to the performers or attendees seated around you.

Cameras/Recording Equipment
Cameras, video and audio recording equipment are strictly prohibited in Tornstrom Auditorium or other LAMF-utilized venues during concerts, as such can create a major distraction for the musicians and audience members.

From time to time, LAMF’s official photographer may be seen taking photographs for archival and promotional purposes. Media may request use of such photography by contacting carol@russellherder.com.

Lodging

The Brainerd Lakes Area, centrally located in the heart of Minnesota, is a vibrant region with a diverse economic base, high quality educational systems, and unparalleled natural beauty and recreational opportunities. Brainerd, the county seat of Crow Wing County, can be found along the banks of the Mississippi River, in the heart of Minnesota about two hours north of the Twin Cities, and nestled among more than 500 area lakes. Brainerd and Baxter cities serve as the region’s hub for many governmental, health care, and retail services. The region is home to nearly 100,000 year-round residents and thousands more seasonal residents and visitors. Health care, information technology, construction, and hospitality lead the list of large industry sectors.

If you are visiting LAMF from outside of the Lakes Area, let the experts of the Brainerd Lakes Chamber of Commerce assist you in locating available lodging in the area. Options range from world-class resorts with golf courses, restaurants, and spas to campgrounds where you can sleep under the stars. Discover the perfect fit for all your vacation destination needs.
