Before working primarily in orchestral settings, Kathryn participated in concerto competitions, winning first place in the Schubert Club Collegiate concerto competition, and first runner up in the Music Teachers’ National Association Collegiate String Competition.
In addition to performing, Kathryn enjoys teaching 8 students of which she is very proud.
When not doing something that involves the violin, Kathryn likes to run, do yoga, play with her dog, cook elaborate meals, and travel as much as possible. Most of these things, except for the yoga, she enjoys doing with her husband Kevin Watkins, percussionist in the Lakes Area Music Festival.
