A native of Connecticut, Kathryn Bennett holds degrees from Indiana university and the University of Minnesota, where she studied performance and pedagogy with Sally O’Reilly. Kathryn has performed and toured frequently with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra and the Minnesota Orchestra, including two consecutive one year contracts with the Minnesota Orchestra. In addition to these orchestras, Kathryn has recently toured with the Milwaukee symphony and with A Far Cry, an unconducted string orchestra based in Boston.

From 2005-2008, Kathryn was a member of the Verbier Festival Orchestra based in Verbier, Switzerland, and in 2007-08 toured with the Verbier chamber orchestra. Before working primarily in orchestral settings, Kathryn participated in concerto competitions, winning first place in the Schubert Club Collegiate concerto competition, and first runner up in the Music Teachers’ National Association Collegiate String Competition.
In addition to performing, Kathryn enjoys teaching 8 students of which she is very proud.
When not doing something that involves the violin, Kathryn likes to run, do yoga, play with her dog, cook elaborate meals, and travel as much as possible. Most of these things, except for the yoga, she enjoys doing with her husband Kevin Watkins, percussionist in the Lakes Area Music Festival.
