Soprano Karen Barraza is originally from Mazatlán, Sinaloa, México.
Ms. Barraza starts her singing career in her Hometown Mazatlán, Sinaloa. Debuting with the Role of “Musetta” in Puccini’s Masterpiece La Bohème. Ms. Barraza’s most recently Performed one of the Most famous Operas of great Musical difficulty Rigoletto by Verdi interpreting “Gilda” at the Academy of Vocal Arts where she has also performed the roles of: “Lauretta” in Gianni Schicchi, “Musetta” in La Bohème, “Elvira” in L’italiana in algery, “Poussette” in Manon and “Prilepa” in Pique Dame.
In February 2016 Karen Barraza Debuts the tittle role “Juliette” in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette.
Ms. Barraza has also participated in “JUBILATE” a Sacred Music Concert in 2014 – 2015 and Most recently the Bach Magnificant Soprano Solo.
Karen Obtained the First prize at the Licia Albanese Foundation Competition and a Violetta Dupont winner in New York City 2016. She had Previously Obtained Third prize winner at the “National Carlo Morelli Competition” in Bellas Artes, México 2014. Young Emerging Artist, Audience Favorite and “Friends of Opera” at the “International Voice Competition Sinaloa” 2013.
Ms. Barraza is currently finishing her 4th year as a Resident Artist at the Prestigious Academy of Vocal Arts in Philadelphia, PA.
