Dr. Joshua Becker is a Minneapolis/St. Paul-based trombonist and educator. He currently teaches 5th and 6th Grade band in the Burnsville-Eagan-Savage Schools, is the director of the Brass Choir at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Burnsville, and maintains a large low brass studio and busy performing schedule in the Twin Cities.
Dr. Becker received his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Trombone Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music, a Master of Music from Rice University's Shepherd School of Music and a Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. His teachers include Allen Barnhill, Phillip Freeman, David Kirk, Dr. John Marcellus, Dr. Phil Ostrander, John Rojak, the late David Waters, and Larry Zalkind.
He has performed with the Aspen Festival Orchestra, Chautauqua Symphony, Houston Symphony, Houston Ballet, Rochester Philharmonic (including the 2014 summer season) and Symphoria Orchestra of Syracuse. Dr. Becker also toured the United States with the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra, and was a three year scholarship student at the Aspen Music Festival and School.
