Anna Mattix plays English Horn and Oboe with the Buffalo Philharmonic, a position she has held since 2007. Previous to her appointment in Buffalo Anna played principal Oboe with the Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra and English Horn with the Owensboro Philharmonic. A native of upstate NY Anna attended Ithaca College where she received a Bachelor of Music in both Performance and Education. Subsequently, she received a Master of Oboe Performance from Yale University and was a doctoral candidate at Indiana University. Anna is a commited educator and while at Yale she developed a unique mentoring program between students in the School of Music and New Haven's Magnet Arts High School. This program that continues to this day was honored with the prestigious Elm and Ivy award given by the city of New Haven and Yale University. Currently she volunteers at the Buffalo Academy for Visual and Performing Arts and is a member of the woodwind faculties at Canisius College and Buffalo State College. Anna has appeared several times as a soloist with the Buffalo Philharmonic and in concert at multiple International Double Reed Society Conferences. She was also a featured recording artist for Aireborn and Los Lodges studios in Indianapolis. Her major teachers have included Ronald Roseman, Theodore Baskin, Nicholas Daniel, Daniel Carno and Mark Hill.
